What is Student Aid?

Student Aid is a government program created to provide financial support to young students.

One of the main objectives is to encourage young people to stay in school and complete their basic education, combating school dropout and providing them with the chance to finish their studies at the right age.

The financial transfer program was created in 2024, providing financial support. Therefore, Student Aid is an opportunity for many young people to improve their education and have more opportunities in the future.

How does Student Aid work?

This income transfer program is aimed at public high school students or EJA (Education for Young People and Adults), with the aim of providing financial assistance and encouraging them to complete their studies.

Initially, the aid is paid in periodic installments, according to the fulfillment of school goals and obligations, such as:

  • Regular school attendance;
  • Good performance in tests;
  • Participation in extracurricular activities.

Remembering that values are accumulated over time, rewarding the student's effort and dedication to ensure that they complete their studies successfully.

Rules for receiving Government Student Aid

Like other government programs, Student Aid establishes certain criteria for eligibility. Generally, students must follow certain rules, such as:

  • Maintain a minimum attendance of 80% in classes during the last academic month.
  • Complete the school year with approval, without failing.
  • Be regularly enrolled in public high school or in Youth and Adult Education (EJA).
  • For third-year students, participation in the National High School Exam (Enem) or another assessment exam, such as the National Exam for Certification of Skills for Young People and Adults (Encceja), is mandatory.

Attention! If a student has an attendance rate of less than 80% in any month, the benefit payment will be suspended. To resume receiving the aid, the student will need to regain the minimum required attendance.

Once he reaches the 80% attendance percentage again, the payment will be unlocked, allowing him to continue receiving financial support from the program.

How to get Student Aid?

First of all, it is important to know that the aid is popularly known as the Pé-de-Meia program.

In principle, students do not need to register to participate. However, they must have a CPF, be enrolled in a public school until April 2024, and be part of a family that already receives the Bolsa Família Program.

If you meet all these requirements and are chosen by the MEC, CAIXA will open a digital account in the student's name, which can be accessed through the CAIXA Tem app.

Furthermore, if the student already has an active CAIXA Tem account, it will not be necessary to open a new account to receive the benefit, as long as the account is of the Digital Social Savings or CAIXA Tem Savings type and is registered in their name.

What is the payment method?

As mentioned, the financial institution automatically opens an account, where the amount is deposited, divided into installments.

Furthermore, it is important to note that minors under 18 years of age must have authorization to move money in their account.

The account allows students to make transfers, pay bills and withdraw money from ATMs and lottery outlets. This way, they can manage their money in a practical and safe way.
